UPDATE:
Murray State University posted Monday that campus police received an additional report regarding a separate assault incident that occurred at an off-campus location approximately an hour after a previous incident early Saturday.
According to the individual who filed the report, three unidentified males attempted to force entry into the Sigma Pi house while requesting alcohol. When instructed to leave, the suspects allegedly struck the victim in the face with a hand, took alcohol from an individual, and fled the scene.
It's currently unknown whether this incident is related to the earlier report. Campus police have forwarded the report to the Murray Police Department and the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
Murray State Police repeat that there is information to indicate there is an ongoing threat to the campus community.
ORIGINAL STORY:
An assault with weapons brandished occurred at an off-campus party in Murray early Saturday, and Murray Police are investigating.
Four males are reported to have assaulted a single victim at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house on South 16th Street; reportedly, a pair of firearms was shown. Witnesses said one of the guns was used to hit the victim. The four male suspects are said to have left the area in a white SUV. Police have preliminary descriptions of those suspects and are continuing to investigate.
Campus Police issued a statement informing students that they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community. They said if anyone has information about the incident, to call the Murray Police Department at 270-753-1621 or the Murray State Police Department at 270-809-2222..
