Fatal traffic accident on I-24 in Christian County under investigation

A fatal traffic accident that occurred Saturday on I-24 in Christian County is under investigation.

Kentucky State Police at Madisonville said Tuesday a preliminary investigation indicates that three vehicles were traveling eastbound on Interstate 24 near the 86-mile marker when they collided, resulting in multiple injuries and one fatality. Two passengers were airlifted due to serious physical injuries.

One of the passengers airlifed, 39-year-old Elizabeth Lubke of Eau Claire, Wisconsin died Sunday of her injuries at a Nashville hospital.  Another passenger is expected to survive.  

The investigation into how the accident occurred is still under investigation.
