Mid-August will continue to be on the hot side for our region, according to the extended outlook from the National Weather Service.
Their 6- to 10-day models show everyone east of the Rocky Mountains to be the recipients of temperatures above normal, but with no indications of the extreme heat we experienced a few weeks ago. The band that shows the largest departure from the normal highs includes Illinois, Missouri and most of Kentucky.
Paducah's historical average high for most of August is 90 degrees.
The extended outlook calls for precipitation in our region to be near normal, mostly in the form of afternoon thundershowers that build up from the heat of the day.
Our next chance for rain looks to be on Tuesday, then a slight chance daily for the rest of the week.
