A phone scam that uses names of judges and sheriffs has been recently reported.
According to the Ballard County Sheriff's Office, calls are coming from a number that indicates it is law enforcement and mentions names of judges or sheriffs.
The caller then says there is an outstanding warrant, and instructs the victim to not call or go into the office, or they will be arrested.
The Sheriff's Office stresses never to give information over the phone, as law enforcement does not call and advise people that they have warrants.
They also said scams are becoming more frequent and the public needs to stay vigilant.
