A Benton man was arrested after reportedly being in possession of drugs and a stolen truck.

The Benton police department was contacted last Saturday by McCracken County detectives that the stolen truck that had possibly been spotted in the Oak Level community. 

An officer located the vehicle parked beside a residence with a passenger side window broken out. As the officer got out to confirm VIN numbers on the vehicle, a man approached from the residence that was later Identified as 60-year-old Eddie King of Benton. 

Police said King had the keys to the stolen truck in his pockets, and he was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine on his person. A search of the residence yielded more meth along with marijuana, digital scales, glass smoking pipes, makeshift smoking pipes made out of pill bottles, and other unidentified substances in baggies. 

King was arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail on the drug charges.

The truck was recovered and returned to its owner. That investigation is ongoing by the Calvert City Police Department and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, with more charges pending.
