Paducah Mayor George Bray said on Monday that Viking Cruise Lines intends to stop in Paducah for the first time in 2024.
Bray told West Kentucky Star that details still need to be worked out, but that Viking has indicated that Paducah would be a port of call on three occasions next summer. He said they have spoken about specific dates, but that those could change as they go through the process of finalizing plans. According to a social media post from the Mayor, the Paducah stops would be the only ones on the Ohio River.
Bray called it exciting news when the "number one cruise line in the world chooses your city."
Viking runs ocean and river cruises around the world, including several itineraries up and down the Mississippi from St. Paul, Minnesota to New Orleans.
