A Brookport man was charged with stealing alcohol from a third Metropolis business in November.

Metropolis Police were alerted last Monday to the theft of a bottle of Crown Royal by a man they recognized. Employees at Casey's General Store reportedly identified 32-year-old Cesar V. Mounts as the perpetrator and said he left on foot. Officers allege they could clearly see Mounts take the bottle, conceal it under his jacket, and walk out the door without paying for it. Police caught up to Mounts on Tuesday at a residence belonging to a relative.

Because Mounts was not allowed in Casey's, the charge was elevated to burglary. Mounts was arrested and taken to the Massac County Detention Center.

Mounts was cited for retail theft twice earlier in November for allegedly stealing a bottle of whiskey from The Party Hut and a bottle of vodka from Walgreens.
