At this week’s Paducah city commission meeting, an architect showed the latest concept images and provided an updated timeline for the downtown City Block project.

The images portray the five-story, 81-room boutique hotel to be constructed along Jefferson Street that includes two restaurants, a rooftop bar, and retail space.

The parking lot will include green space, outdoor gathering places, and 148 parking spaces.

The hotel is expected to open in spring 2024. Groundbreaking for the project will be in January, so the existing parking lot will remain open for this holiday shopping season.

Along with the hotel, there are also plans to break ground on a three-story residential building along Broadway with 70 units ranging from studio to two-bedroom apartments. The building will include some commercial space.

The project is contained in the downtown block bounded by Jefferson Street, Water Street, Broadway, and North 2nd Street.

The anticipated development of the block is the reason why this month's returning Barbecue On the River has been moved downstream to the former Executive Inn property.
