A former west Tennessee substitute teacher, accused of assaulting a third grade student, is scheduled to return to Weakley County General Sessions Court December 18th.

According to KYTN, Paula Bell, a former Dresden substitute teacher, appeared in court Friday morning, and the state said additional evidence had been discovered and would need to be reviewed.

Bell was charged with simple assault following an investigation by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office, accused of putting her hands on a student, leaving visible marks.

Other allegations that were reported by families include the use of profanity and inappropriate comments toward students.

Bell was charged but not arrested.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 18th at 9:00 am in Weakley County.
