A couple was arrested on Thursday after a disturbance that sent one to the hospital with a stab wound.

It happened at a home off Wilderness Road south of Suwanee. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was called just after 7:15 p.m. about the incidents between 39-year-old John M. Huddleston and 48-year-old Wendy D. Garnett, both of Kuttawa. Deputies said that the two were reportedly intoxicated and got into an argument that escalated into Huddleston allegedly using his hands and fists on Garnett, and then he took her phone to prevent her from calling for help. Huddleston is said to have left the home and walked to the nearby home of his mother.

Garnett also went to Huddleston’s mother’s home, but she was said to have been armed with a knife. The further disturbance resulted in Huddleston receiving a knife wound. Garnett then left the home, while 911 was called to tend to Huddleston. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, but was later released and arrested by deputies. Huddleston was charged with assault-domestic violence, and interfering with communication. Garnett, meanwhile, was located and arrested after being located in a wooded area. She was charged with assault and tampering with physical evidence.

Garnett was later found to be in violation of her supervised felony probation out of Marshall County. Kentucky Probation and Parole then served her with a Probation Violation for Felony Offense Detainer with a “no bond” provision.
