A crash involving a semi knocked out power in portions of western McCracken County on Tuesday.

The crash around 12:30 pm brought down power poles and lines along Ogden Landing Road near Bradford Lane. The lines down across the road forced a closure until the cleanup allowed them to restore traffic after 7 p.m.

The other problem was the power outage that resulted in that area, aggravated by the oppressive heat. That prompted McCracken County Emergency Management to open a cooling center. Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Blandville Road stepped up and opened their doors to anyone who needed to get out of the heat.

There was no word on what caused the crash or the condition of the driver.
