Death investigation underway in Alexander County, Illinois

A death investigation is underway in rural Alexander County, Illinois.

An Alexander County Sheriff’s deputy went to a home on Monday afternoon after a reported domestic incident near McLure, Illinois. The deputy is said to have tried to arrest a suspect in the case, but the individual ran. A search of the area located the suspect in a creek off the Grapevine Trail near Levee Road. The report said that the man drowned before responders could get to him.  

The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office called in Illinois State Police about 4:30 p.m. Monday to handle the investigation. ISP said that because it is an active investigation, there would be no further details until it is completed.
