Dorena-Hickman Ferry closed by low river levels

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry is closed due to low water on the Mississippi River, causing sand to block access to the concrete ramp at the Missouri landing.  

The river at Cairo was at 20.1 ft. on Sunday morning, with a forecast for river levels to continue to drop.  

The ferry will likely remain closed until there is substantial rainfall upstream, or arrangements can be made to move some of the accumulated sand.
