A driver disregarded a road closed sign on US 45 in Graves County early Saturday morning, and crashed into construction equipment.
According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called at 2:00 am to US 45 between Wingo and Water Valley.
At the scene, deputies found a car wedged between an excavator and re-bar used for concrete, with the rebar having impaled the drivers side of the vehicle.
The driver, 18-year-old Jamari Atkinson-Waters, of New Jersey, said he knowingly drove around and past the road closed sign at a high rate of speed, losing control of the vehicle due to wet surfaces, then crashed into the equipment. Atkinson-Waters was reportedly not injured in the crash.
He was cited for reckless driving and driving too fast for traffic conditions.
