Drug charges for Metropolis man arrested in sports park after hours

A Metropolis man is facing a drug charges after being spotted parked in the sports park after hours.

Metropolis Police spotted the vehicle in the park just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday. As the officer approched the vehicle, he recognized 34-year-old Gregory R. Dinkins and knew he had an outstanding warrant. Dinkins was arrested on the failure to appear warrant the involved a resisting arrest incident. A search, however, also uncovered a baggie in his car that has as many as 50 fentanyl or ecstacy pills.

Dinkins was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He was taken to the Massac County Detention Center.
