Extreme heat warning expires, but triple digit heat index remains for weekend

The extreme heat warning in effect since Monday has finally expired, but a heat advisory is still in place for the region through Friday.

Temperatures on Friday and Saturday will be in the lower 90s, and peak heat index readings could still go above 105.

Any relief from the heat through slight thunderstorm chances will be small and temporary.

By Monday and Tuesday, temperatures look to return to the mid and upper 90s. More heat advisories will likely be needed into next week.
