A Ledbetter man was arrested during an investigation of illegal dumping in Livingston County.
On Wednesday, illegal dumping was reported along Chestnut Lake Road in the Ledbetter area. A deputy located the suspect, 30-year-old Byron Hopkins, at a residence on Mary Drive.
An altercation during the encounter led to an attempted Taser deployment, but Hopkins fled in a vehicle.
After a pursuit, deputies deployed pepper spray to take Hopkins into custody. Livingston County EMS was called for precautionary medical evaluation. While being treated, Hopkins attempted to flee on foot but was once again apprehended.
Hopkins' charges included criminal littering, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, disorderly conduct and DUI.
