A Farmington man was arrested on drug charges after he fled on foot from Graves County deputies.
A deputy was on patrol Friday morning in the Golo/Farmington area when he observed a male walking in the area of KY 564 and KY 1124 that he knew to be 45-year-old James Matthew Majors. The deputy was also aware that Majors had active warrants for his arrest.
As the deputy got out of his vehicle and approached Majors, the suspect fled while yelling to the deputy thata he was not Matthew Majors.
Majors ran into a creek as other deputies arrived. Majors was located and arrested on the active warrants. During the arrest, methamphetamine and marijuana were also found.
Majors was lodged in an out-of-county facility, charged with fleeing and evading, possession of meth and marijuana, and tampering with physical evidence.
The Graves County Sheriff's office posted that Majors has a long history of being charged with fleeing or evading police nine times, and contempt of court 12 times. They said deputies have been injured in prior incidents involving Majors.
