A former employee of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet was arrested this week on allegations of theft during his employment.
Kentucky State Police received information in April from the KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Office in Mayfield that an employee stole payments for services KYTC provided at the office.
An investigation revealed that 33-year-old Hunter Simmons of Bradford, Tennessee was employed as the Administrative Section Supervisor for the KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Offices in Mayfield and Paducah.
Police said Simmons allegedly stole around $88,000 from the Mayfield location. There is still an ongoing investigation at the Paducah location.
The Mayfield investigation was presented to the Graves County grand jury on May 12. Simmons was indicted for the charge of theft by unlawful taking greater than $10,000.
Simmons was located and arrested by the Gibson County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. He was taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center and served with the indictment warrant on Thursday.
