A wanted Gilbertsville man was arrested and charged with the attempted robbery of Hank Brother’s Tru-Value in Lone Oak on Thursday.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the store at 2:21 p.m. where they learned that 23-year-old Bryson T. Conkwright had allegedly been seen inside of the business by store employees concealing items in his clothing.

When Conkwright was confronted he reportedly discarded the items and fled the business, striking an employee and shoving them to the ground in the process.

Police found Conkwright a short distance from the business, in the area of Utah Street and Denver Avenue. Conkwright reportedly fled from law enforcement on foot but was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

A detective with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office received minor injuries during the altercation.

Conkwright was charged with attempted robbery, fleeing or evading police and assault. He was also served with an outstanding bench warrant from McCracken County for failure to appear, an outstanding arrest warrant from Marshall County for theft by unlawful taking and a criminal summons from Calloway County for theft by unlawful taking.
