As anticipated, the National Weather Service has extended our heat advisory through Friday.
The entire region is in line for more daily high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s, and peak heat index values from 100 to 105 each afternoon.
The advisory, already in effect since Monday, may still need to be extended even further into the weekend for some parts of the region.
Saturday's forecast high for Paducah is still 98, Sunday 97 and Monday 91 degrees. Finally on Tuesday, the first official day of fall, the forecast high is finally a slightly cooler 87 with a northeast breeze.
Even at that, next week will still be slightly warmer than normal compared to our historical daily high of 81.
