State Rep. Patrick Wndhorst (R-Metropolis) passed legislation out of the Illinois House of Representatives late this past week that makes changes to the admissibility of hospital or public or private agency records in a hearing on an abused, neglected or dependent minor.
According to the representative, House Bill 1434 makes it easier for medical records of abused and neglected children to be admitted into court. It overcomes hurdles that prevent the court from considering that particular medical evidence when a child potentially is taken into the Department of Children and Family Services' care or when there are allegations of abuse against a family member or another member of the community.
Windhorst said the bill (032323Windhorst_HB1434 b) was inspired by local feedback.
