The chief circuit judge of Daviess County, Judge Lisa Payne Jones, has been appointed to Kentucky's First District Court of Appeals.

Payne will fill the vacancy of Judge Donna Dixon of Paducah, who resigned from the post last November.

Jones was one of three nominees submitted to Governor Andy Beshear by the bi-partisan Judicial Nominating Committee.

Jones will be sworn in April 29th in Daviess County.

Fourteen judges, two elected from seven appellate court districts, serve on the Court of Appeals. The judges are divided into panels of three to review and decide cases. The panels do not sit permanently in one location, but travel about the state to hear cases.
