A juvenile is the second person charged in connection with an explosion off Eddy Creek Road in Lyon County.

The juvenile, a 17-year-old from Fredonia, who was accompanied by parents, surrendered to Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies. The teen has been charged with criminal mischief, criminal littering, and disorderly conduct. After being processed, the juvenile was released back to the parents.

The juvenile joins 19-year-old Bo A. Winters of Princeton, who was also charged in the case. Winters was also charged with criminal mischief, criminal littering, and disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Crittenden County Detention Center.

The explosion happened on US Army Corps of Engineers property off Eddy Creek Road. The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said they received multiple calls about the explosion from residents in the Eddy Creek and Saratoga communities. Deputies located a large crater. They determined that a large quantity of a binary and improvised explosive combination, including a mixture of over 100 pounds of aluminum powder with ammonium nitrate, an additional fuel source, and a rifle, was likely used.
