One of the candidates for District 4 magistrate in Caldwell County has withdrawn his candidacy.

In a social media post Wednesday, Kevin Lane said he withdrew not only due to a crowded field, but also due to the future of the district.

Lane added his priority is the well-being of Caldwell County, and expressed concern that a crowded race could split the votes and keep the most qualified person from being elected.

WPKY reported two Republican candidates remain on the ballot, Matthew Lane and Randy Jordan.  Lane said he would endorse and vote for Jordan in the May, 2026 primary.

Candidates have until January 9th to file and run in the May primary.
