Marion Police are preparing to file charges in a case involving the shooting of moving vehicles with a pellet gun.

The department said that over the last several days, multiple individuals have reported hearing what at first sounded like small rocks hitting their vehicles near South Main and Chapel Hill Road. Further inspection, however, revealed damage believed to have been caused by pellets fired at them. Officers said that some of the information received over the last couple of days allowed them to narrow down an area to search.

Through what they described as canvassing, officers were able to locate and seize “two high-powered pellet rifles.” They were also able to identify suspects in the cases. The investigation is continuing, but they expect charges to be filed soon.
