UPDATE:
The search for a missing man in the water near Jonathan Creek has concluded.
The Marshall County Rescue Squad reported that the body of the missing man was found Thursday at approximately 1:00 pm.
Marshall County Coroner Kenny Pratt told West Kentucky Star that the victim has been identified as 61-year-old Daniel Govern of Hardin.
Pratt said an autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.
The rescue squad thanks Calloway County Fire and Rescue, Calloway Emergency Management, South Marshall Fire Department, McCracken County Rescue Squad, McCracken County Emergency Management, Lyon County Group, Fairdealing-Olive Fire Department, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, and the Marshall County Coroner's Office for their assistance with this situation.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The Marshall County Rescue Squad was reportedly searching for a person in the water near Jonathan Creek on Wednesday night.
According to the rescue squad, a couple had reportedly stopped their boat and jumped in to swim, but their boat floated away. The rescue squad was called when witnesses heard a woman calling for help from the water.
A witness on the scene continued to yell for her to keep swimming, and the woman was able to reach a boat dock, where a first responder got her out of the water.
A male was also seen swimming toward the dock but reportedly went under, did not resurface, and has not been found.
The rescue squad along with several other agencies will resume search and recovery operations on Thursday morning.
