McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Clymer has appointed a new jailer to replace David Knight, who is retiring July 31st.

Stephen Andrew Carter has been selected as the new McCracken County jailer, effective August 1st.

Carter began as a deputy jailer in McCracken County in 2009, was promoted to Sergeant in 2011, Lieutenant in 2017, Captain in 2018, and has served as Chief Deputy Jailer since 2019.

Judge Clymer said Carter possesses the experience, dedication, training, and knowledge of the jail to take over upon jailer Knight's retirement.

He said Carter has the strength and leadership attributes required of a jailer, tempered by compassion and a desire to treat inmates with dignity and respect.
