Mayfield man jailed on drug charges after domestic disturbance call

A Mayfield man is facing drug charges after a domestic dispute on Friday.

Mayfield Police were called to Brookside Drive where 36-year-old Edwin Bautista of Mayfield and a woman were arguing. Officers determined that while the altercation had only been verbal, they believed Bautista to be intoxicated by alcohol. While talking with Bautista, officers found a small flashlight they believed belonged to him. Hidden inside that flashlight was allegedly marijuana. 

That was enough to detain Bautista and begin a further search. An unopened package of suboxone strips, two baggies with suspected methamphetamine in a plastic container, and an unopened bottle of alcohol were all located.    

Bautista was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, methamphetamine, and a prescription controlled substance not in a proper container, in addition to tampering with physical evidence and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
