Two incidents at schools in McCracken County are under investigation by the McCracken County Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday morning a man described as behaving suspiciously tried to get in the main doors at Lone Oak Intermediate School. Staff recognized the man as a former student. The man allegedly claimed to be seeking employment and wanted to meet with former teachers. The school staff called 911 and the man left before police arrived.

The man was soon located nearby and interviewed by authorities. He again claimed to be looking for work and that he had applied with McCracken County Schools. The school system said he had not applied to, or been employed by the system. Authorities said the man had exhibited similar behavior at several other local businesses.

With further investigation and consultation with prosecutors, the man was determined to have not committed a crime, and no law enforcement action could be taken. He was however banned from all school properties.

Then on Wednesday afternoon, deputies were called about a verbal dispute between students on a bus.

During an altercation a male juvenile high school student allegedly threatened to bring a gun and knife to school on Friday.

While being interviewed by authorities, the student reportedly said he had no intention of bringing the weapons to school or wanting to harm another student. However, according to the Sheriff's Office the statement did rise to level of a terroristic threatening charge and the student was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Facility.
