A Metropolis man has been arrested and charged with stealing tools from a work trailer parked at a home.
Metropolis Police were called to a home near 4th and Girard on Saturday after residents discovered the trailer had been broken into and tools had been taken. The victims and police reportedly went to a home to speak with a worker connected to the trailer, 41-year-old Scott A. Conley of Metropolis. Conley was reportedly inside sleeping at the time.
Officers are said to have recognized Conley on the surveillance video that showed the robbery. They believe he used a crowbar to get into the trailer and take items reportedly valued at nearly $3,000.
Conley was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, possession of burglary tools, and criminal trespass. He was taken to the Massac County Detention Center.
A portion of the stolen items was recovered. Nearly $1,000 worth of items, though, are still unaccounted for.
