Murray Police say a new phone scam is taking place in the city

Murray Police are investigating a new phone scam that has surfaced.

Investigators said Tuesday callers are claiming to be members of a Mexican drug cartel and are telling victims that a family member has been kidnapped and then demanding  money for the alleged victim’s release.
