A National Weather Service storm survey crew confirmed Thursday that a brief EF-0 tornado touched down in Calloway County on Wednesday afternoon.
They said the tornado reached an estimated wind speed of 85 miles per hour and touched down around 2:02 p.m. just northwest of Murray, near the intersection of Rob Mason Road and Kentucky 121.
The tornado was on the ground for five minutes and traveled 5.3 miles before it lifted northeast of the intersection of US 641 and Kentucky 80.
The tornado's damage path was about 50 yards wide.
Several homes had shingle damage with one garage sliding off its foundation. Additionally, several trees were snapped or uprooted. The most significant damage occurred along Poor Farm Road.
No injuries were reported.
