A pair of crashes slowed traffic along I-24 in Lyon County, and the second crash sent one person to a hospital.
The first crash involved a livestock truck that overturned. It happened just after 7 a.m., and blocked one lane of eastbound I-24 near the 40-mile marker and caused a backup. During the cleanup, a secondary crash happened near the 37-mile marker.
The second crash involved a pickup that ran into the back of a semi. The truck suffered heavy damage to the front end, and one person had to be extricated. According to WKDZ, the person was flown to an out-of-state hospital by Air Evac.
The shutdown forced traffic to be diverted off I-24 at exit 31.
All the lanes were back open by about 2:20 p.m.
