Paducah fugitive arrested in traffic stop north of Mayfield

The Graves County Sheriff's office arrested a wanted fugitive after a foot pursuit and scuffle with deputies early Wednesday morning.

Deputies stopped a vehicle at 3 a.m. on US 45 north of Mayfield. The driver provided a false name and date of birth that belonged to another person. The driver was eventually identified as 32-year-old Javarrius L. Flemons of Paducah.

Flemons had numerous active arrest warrants in McCracken County, and he had reportedly run from the police on several occasions. As Graves deputies attempted to place Flemons in handcuffs, he broke away and attempted to flee on foot. 

He was immediately caught and arrested after a struggle in the middle of the 4-lane highway. Two deputies received minor injuries from the scuffle.

Marijuana, scales, cellphones and cash was seized from the vehicle he was operating.
 
The previous arrest warrants stemmed from 2024, when Flemons was pursued by Pulaski County Illinois authorities in a stolen Dodge Charger, but he was able to get away.  The same vehicle was recovered weeks later in McCracken County stripped of its high-performance engine.

Those original seven charges include receiving stolen property, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and trafficking.

With his Graves County arrest, Flemons was also charged with assault, resisting arrest, theft of identity and fleeing or evading police.

He was transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center, then to an out of county detention center.
