The City of Paducah will soon convert the intersection of 6th Street and Jefferson Street to an all-way stop.
Beginning Friday, the traffic signal will flash red in all directions in preparation for the change.
In August, Public Works Department crews will install stop signs at the intersection's corners.
However, the stop signs will remain covered until September 1st.
Once the stop signs are uncovered, the traffic signal will be removed.
City officials said the change would lead to better traffic flow.
"Removing the traffic signal at the 6th Street and Jefferson Street intersection will reduce the City's maintenance and repair costs and will allow traffic to flow more efficiently without unnecessary delay," City Engineer Rick Murphy said. "A signal warrant study shows that the existing signal can be removed for a more efficient all-way stop operation."
Anyone with questions about the change should contact the Engineering Department at 270-444-8511.
