A Paducah woman has been arrested after an alleged assault that injured another woman severely enough to send her to the hospital.

Paducah Police said that a 37-year-old woman went to a Guthrie Avenue address and became involved in some kind of altercation with several other people. Witnesses told police that they saw 23-year-old Ayonce Townsley with an unidentified object in her hand. The victim said that during the fight with Townsley, she was hit with what felt like a sharp object close to her eye.

The victim had a cut and swelling develop, so she was driven to the hospital. At that point, police were called. The woman ultimately had to be sent to an out-of-state hospital for more treatment.

Paducah Police arrested Townsley, charging her with 2nd degree assault. She was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
