A Paducah woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison after a conviction in several fentanyl trafficking cases.

Paducah Police confirmed the sentencing of Sheila Shumpert, who was charged in six separate investigations from 2022 to 2024. Shumpert pleaded guilty in all those cases that were prosecuted by the Commonwealth’s Attorney. In the 2022 case, over 8,000 fentanyl pills were confiscated. There were approximately 3,500 taken in the 2024 case.

Paducah Police Chief Brian Laird pointed to the collaboration between his department at that of the Commonwealth Attorney. Laird said,“This case is a great example what can be accomplished when law enforcement and prosecutors work side by side toward the common goal of protecting our citizens. Those who are dealing drugs in our community should take notice to the long prison sentences being handed out.”

Shumpert will have to serve at least half of her sentence before being considered for release.
