Two men were arrested in Dawson Springs after they allegedly fired shots at a Kentucky State trooper during a pursuit on Thursday night.

KSP said a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver failed to stop and a pursuit took place through Dawson Springs, with shots fired at the trooper from the vehicle during the chase.

Police captured and arrested the driver, 33-year old Kristopher Barker of Hiram, Georgia, along with 32-year old Tanner Southerland from Dawson Springs.

Southland was charged with attempted murder of a police officer.

Barker was charged with conspiracy to attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing or evading police and reckless driving.

Police said 27-year old Kirsten Bean of Dawson Springs was also taken into custody on multiple outstanding Hopkins County warrants for unrelated charges.

Barker, Southerland, and Bean were lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
