Power customers of utilities served by the Tennessee Valley Authority have been asked by TVA to conserve electricity during these extremely hot days.

The voluntary adjustments could include raising the thermostat a couple of degrees, turning off all non-essential lighting or electronics, and using larger appliances like the washer, dryer, and dishwasher later in the day. There is no mention of a danger to the grid, but rather the preemptive move will assure that power continues to flow.

TVA affiliates in Western Kentucky include Benton Electric, Fulton Electric, Hickman Electric, Mayfield Electric and Water System, Murray Electric, and West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation.
