This weekend's 50th annual Racer Roundup Rodeo, which was scheduled to begin tonight at the Cherry Expo Center in Murray, has been postponed.
The Murray State University Rodeo Team reports that the sudden cancellation comes after an outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus at a rodeo event in Waco, Texas, earlier this month .
The Murray team's horses have not been affected, but they are taking the proper precautions to keep their horses and all of those who would have competed at the event safe and healthy.
The event will be postponed until the severity of the outbreak can be determined and conditions are determined to be safe for all to compete.
Tickets will be good for when the rodeo is rescheduled for early 2026, otherwise refunds are available from the point of purchase.
The cancellation also includes the finale of Murray's Fall Barrel Series scheduled for Saturday, and the High School Rodeo scheduled for this Sunday.
You can keep up with the rescheduling of the event at the Murray State University Rodeo Team Facebook page.
