A high-speed pursuit from McCracken into Graves County early Wednesday morning resulted in the arrest of a Paducah teen.

Wednesday morning at 1:27 AM, Graves Sheriff’s deputies were alerted by McCracken County authorities about a stolen Dodge Charger from the Cairo Road area.

Ten minutes later, a Graves deputy spotted the vehicle on US Highway 45 near the I-69 interchange. As he attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit continued through Mayfield and onto KY Highway 58. Due to the excessive speeds and a tire deflated on the deputy’s police vehicle, the pursuit was terminated near the airport.

Another deputy soon found that the stolen vehicle had struck a telephone pole and overturned multiple times. A search of a nearby soybean field located a 17-year-old male from Paducah.

The juvenile claimed that he was not driving the stolen vehicle and would not identify who he was. He was taken into custody and transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of injuries he sustained from the crash.

A loaded handgun was recovered from the stolen vehicle that did not belong to the owner of the vehicle.

The crash with the utility pole caused power outages, which were quickly restored by a crew from WKRECC.

The juvenile is facing charges of felony evading and possession of a handgun by a minor.
