The Dorena Hickman ferry has resumed service, as the Mississippi River rose enough for the ferry to be able to reach both landings.

The ferry had to be closed when the river fell under 13 feet, but on Saturday morning it has recovered to 16 feet, and is forecast to rise to near 18 feet by Tuesday.

The ferry is operating on its winter schedule, with the last run from the Kentucky side at 4:15 pm, and last run from the Missouri side at 4:30 pm.

The ferry remains closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until an additional qualified pilot can be hired.
