Persistent rain over the past several days has impacted the mowing schedule in many western Kentucky counties.

The first mowing cycle began in late May, but progress in certain areas has been slowed by the wet conditions.

Since April 1, the National Weather Service office in Paducah has recorded more than 20 inches of rainfall. Paducah's average precipitation total for April and May is about ten inches.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet  and private mowing contractors will resume mowing whenever weather permits. Be alert for support vehicles and workers near the roadway.

Most mowing is completed through contracts with private companies.
