Scanners are hard at work this week especially those who own Apple products in Caldwell County.

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office said Thursday they have received complaints scammers are trying to take money.

Investigators said reports indicate citizens are receiving text or push notifications from Apple that the person's Apple ID was used for a purchase at an Apple Store.

It asks to then call a number to verify the purchase.  If the number is called, the caller is then asked to do other things to stop this activity and even tell you while on the phone they will be connecting you to the FBI.

The so called FBI person will then ask to take over your phone or iPad and then you've been exposed.

Investigators advise those who receive this message to delete it, check information with your bank and change your Iphone or Ipad password.
