Three months after retiring from the position, Steve Smith was once again announced as the Calloway County High School principal, less than a week after the resignation of Bobby Love.

Calloway County superintendent Tres Settle made the announcement on Friday. He noted that Smith is back on an interim basis beginning Monday, October 13.

Settle said he was appreciative of Smith for helping the district with an administrative transition at CCHS, and that the school was in capable hands with Smith and assistant principals Patrick Keeney and Lynsey Smith.

Smith is a native of Terre Haute, Indiana, and a graduate of Murray State University. He was first chosen as Calloway's principal in 2022, after five years as assistant principal. Smith was an employeed of the school system since 2000.

Love had been named Calloway County High principal July 1st after being an assistant principal under Smith.

Settle said in an email sent to parents and guardians Wednesday that Love had resigned for "personal reasons" and would not be on campus for the remainder of the school year.
