A pair of statues, one recently damaged by vandals, will be rededicated at Mike Miller Park on Saturday.
The Marshall County Fiscal Court had the statue refurbished and had work done on a second statue, as well. In a social media post, they said the damaged statue is now “better than new.” The two will be returned to their rightful place on Friday at Noon. Marshall County officials are inviting veterans to come to Mike Miller Park and escort the statues back home, where they will be reinstalled.
A rededication ceremony for the statues will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Lieutenant Colonel Nicole M. Griffith delivering the keynote address. The public is invited to attend.
Two male teenagers were caught and arrested after deputies were called to the park about 3 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, February 16th. One of the teens is a 16-year-old from Paducah, and the other is a 17-year-old from Calvert City. The two are facing charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespassing, and fleeing or evading police.
They were reportedly caught riding a four-wheeler in the park in the middle of the night and allegedly tried to run from deputies.
