A suspect is in custody after a report of $9,000 in high end tools that were taken from a local business last month.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office reported Thursday they began an investigation October 15th into the theft of the tools from James Marine on Clarks River Road.  The investigation determined 43-year-old Michael Lane of Kevil had been terminated from his job at the company and a couple of days later went into the shop and took the tools.

On October 20th, McCracken and Ballard County sheriff's deputies served a search warrant at Lane's residence in Lovelaceville.

Several of the tools taken from James Marine were found and identified by James Marine personnel. Among the tools was a large shop sign that said Tennessee Valley Towing, which had also been stolen.

Lane is currently lodged in Ballard County Jail and will be serving his charges out of McCracken County.
