Two people were arrested over the weekend on drug related charges in separate incidents in Graves County.
The Graves County Sheriff's Office reported Monday the first arrest took place Saturday just after 11 am when deputies were sent to a single vehicle traffic accident on KY 131 north of Kaler.
Investigators say the vehicle, operated by 38-year-old Steven F. Holmes of Louisville dropped off of the side of KY 131 and stuck a driveway.
Investigators found Holmes and his passenger Katrina Snelling had left the scene. They were found on Clarks River Cemetary Road north of Kaler. Holmes admitted he had been involved in a collision but had walked away before first responders arrived. Snelling was not hurt.
The two were taken back to the scene of the accident where investigators learned Holmes was under the influence of a controlled substance.
It was also discovered Holmes had hidden numerous items in a wooded area near the collision scene. Deputies were able to recover methamphetamine, numerous bags, scales and other items of drug paraphernalia.
Methamphetamine and another set of scales were located inside of the vehicle and a large amount of cash was also found on Holmes.
Holmes was charged with numerous drug and traffic offenses and was transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center,and later taken to an out of county jail facility.
Meanwhile, Sunday morning around 2:50 am, a traffic stiop was conducted on KY 131 near Granny Lane north of Symsonia.
Investigators said 59-year-old Joanna Stewart of Paducah was arrested of suspicion of DUI after field sobriety tests were conducted.
A search of Stewart's vehicle revealed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Stewart's purse.
It was also discovered that Stewart had an active bench warrant for her arrest out of McCracken District Court.
She was charged with drug and traffic offenses along with failure to appear. Stewart was first taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center then transported to an out of county jail.
