The word "extreme" has been removed from our weather vocabulary for at least a week, as typical July temperatures and precipitation patterns have settled into place.
Daily chances for showers and storms are in place, primarily during the afternoon and early evening.
The main threat with most storms will be gusty winds, brief heavy downpours and lightning. A few stronger storms may pulse up to produce 60-mph winds.
After today, the highest chances for rain will be on Thursday night through Friday night.
High temperatures will moderate to the mid or upper 80s, which is slightly below average compared to Paducah's daily historical high of 90 in July.
